"The very basic core of a man's living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun."
-Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer, page 57
The society has been, and is still not being able to live in the ways that we want. For some people, it is almost very impossible for them to even encounter different experiences, because of what they are stuck in, like the jobs that they have, and the chores that they need to complete, etc. McCandless thinks that all of those should be eliminated. He believes in a man's spirit, and that it is not just him that needs adventures, and different experiences. He thinks that the whole society need to be in different situations, not have specific routine, and just accept the things that come and face them. He wants the society to go around, finding out the things that they have never known due to their same boring everyday lives, and just have some spirit.
ReplyDeleteHe mansions that each day has to have a new and different sun. The sun is often expressed as a new start, and something that resembles very strong spirit. This means that McCandless believes that the society should always know that a completely different day from today will come, and that they should be passionate about it.
