  1. 1. From the novel, it really seems like McCandless' opinions getting ignored is what got him to leave Emory, and separate from his family. McCandless has always believed that he should be able to do the things in his way, and just live out for his beliefs. "...yet they ignore what I say and think I'd actually accept a new car from them." (Krakauer 21). This quote shows that even though the parents were just trying to give McCandless something good, and something that will be beneficial to him, just because McCandless himself did not think he needed a new car, he thought of that negatively, and thought that they were ignoring him. Since even the smallest thing like that bothered him, he probably had a lot of things that bothered him, and thought that he was just being ignored all the time, and that no one understood him.

  2. 2. His reasons equal to the reasons for change within the broader population. He thinks that he is being ignored all the time, and that he is not being ale to live up to his beliefs. He believes that because of those reasons, the society should all look back at themselves, and instead of just always going after somethings that they think is better, and minding other people's business by trying to do things for them without having the idea of what the person needs, he thinks that everyone should just live the way that they want to live, not get involved in other people's lives, and live up to their beliefs just like him.
