ReplyDeleteMcCandless is very different from others. He knows that he is himself also.Almost everywhere he goes for a job, he never has complains about the amount, or the type of work that he has to do. However, it is always the people that are involved in the job. He has such different beliefs about things, that he cannot get along with them. In this quote, he says that he has grown tired of the 'plastic people' he worked with. McCandless believes that people should be able to work, or just do anything in the ways that they want. He believes that even though, someone has hired him, and his co-workers, that they should be able to do the work in their own ways as long as they get the work done. He feels as if the society is in such control that are unnecessary, and that are just keeping them stuck to having to really act like plastic people that just follow orders, and have no opinions about the rules. McCandless wants to get out of that solidness, and be able to express his full feelings, and live freely.
